A warning has been issued about phishing emails or texts claiming to be from HMRC. This comes ahead of the deadline, which is 31 July, to make advance payments towards self-assessment bills. The spoof emails and texts promises tax refunds. A spokesperson for HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) said: "HMRC will never notify you of a tax rebate, offer you repayment, or ask you to disclose personal or financial details by email or by text.”
