Figures from the British Retail Consortium indicate a positive increase in sales in May for the retail sector, with spending up by 1.4% on a year ago and a rise in sales by 0.5% on last month. The bank holiday and warmer weather are both contributory factors in this positive turnaround. However, with the retail sector being one of the worst affected by the economic downturn, retail business owners must continue to work hard to win more customer loyalty, increase productivity, and strengthen market position.
