The UK is the fourth richest nation in the world in terms of the private wealth held by its population, according to a new report.
New World Wealth has estimated that the private wealth held by all individuals in Britain, including assets, is $8.7 trillion (£7.1 trillion). That figure fell by 5 per cent in 2015, from $9.2 trillion, due primarily to the decreasing value of sterling since the Brexit vote.
The US topped the table with total private wealth of $51.3 trillion, followed by China with $19.1 trillion and Japan with $16 trillion.
