The UK car industry is racing ahead, with almost 160,000 vehicles built last month and more than one million cars exported in 2016, the highest since records began in 1995.
According to the report published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), car production globally has increased for 14 months in a row, with UK export figures 5 per cent higher than a year ago.
Commenting on the findings, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Greg Clark, says: "The UK automotive sector has had a remarkable year, exporting over one million cars all around the world.
"This is thanks to our highly-skilled workforce, the strong partnership between Government and industry and long-term investment in new technology and innovation."
