Saturday 1 December is Small Business Saturday, a day to celebrate and support small businesses in our local communities, many of whom take part in the day by hosting events and offering discounts.
The campaign is a grassroots, non-commercial initiative, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ in support of the UK’s 5.7 million small businesses. It also gives small businesses, which often don’t have the budget for PR and marketing, the platform to promote their products. Last year saw an estimated £748 million spent with small businesses across the UK on Small Business Saturday.
As advisers to Britain’s small businesses, we are encouraging everyone to get involved. Start the day with a coffee from a local café. Then do some Christmas shopping at a small neighbourhood retailer. Take a look at social media to find out what events your local area is hosting. Visit a family owned restaurant or bar. Then, when you get home, go online and take a look at the many digital small businesses getting involved in the campaign this year.
We are here to support small businesses and we encourage everyone to do so too.
