Schools act on demand from China

UK schools and universities are looking to advantage of the growing appetite for British education in China, with a number of them announcing plans to set up sites in the country.

As outlined in a report in the Times* by Nicola Woolcock, Reigate Grammar School, Wycombe Abbey and Liverpool University each announced developments during the Prime Minister’s visit to China last week. Reigate is to open five schools in China, Wycombe Abbey is developing a £90 million campus that will open in 2020, while Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University has revealed details of a new campus, with an existing site open since 2006.

The news comes as no surprise to us. In recent years, we have seen significant growth in interest from Chinese businesses looking to invest in the United Kingdom, so it only makes sense that British education in China should be growing in popularity, as ties between the two countries strengthen.
