Research shows the startups where UK professionals most want to work

New analysis from LinkedIn shows that London still dominates the UK startup scene, with all but one of country’s 25 leading startups being based in the Capital.

The social media site’s research, which analysed searches and company page views from LinkedIn’s half a billion users, shows that Monzo leads the way as the startup for which most British professionals want to work. There has been a 447 per cent surge in hiring over the past two years, and the challenger bank now employs 344 people.

Fintech company Revolut is also in the top five, with 550 per cent, as is ClearBank with a 277 per cent increase.

Sportswear manufacturer Gymshark also features high on the list, as does Skinnydip London, which sells phone cases and bags, and DAZN, the sports streaming service.

Orlando Crowcroft of LinkedIn comments: “At a time of economic and political uncertainty, these 25 companies are putting innovation and invention at the forefront of what they do. Our data tells us that these startups are not only seeing incredible growth, but are the places where LinkedIn members want to work. It is easy to see why.”

London mayor Sadiq Khan adds: “London is home to a wealth of talent and creativity so it’s no surprise that the capital dominates the LinkedIn Top Startups list in the UK.

“Despite the difficulties and uncertainty posed by Brexit, we need to continue to support these businesses to thrive whilst creating an economy which lets all Londoners share in the capital’s prosperity. I look forward to seeing these companies go from strength to strength – and to seeing how they continue to contribute to London’s business success story – in the years to come.”

London is an established world-leader in finance, creative industries and business services, and an ever-growing force in industries such as tech, low carbon and life sciences. It offers some tempting tax incentives to support innovation and startup businesses, such as Entrepreneur’s Relief, Research & Development (R&D) tax credits, Enterprise Investments Schemes, and more.
