Global Entrepreneurship Week 2016 (GEW) takes place across the world on 14-20 November. GEW started life in the UK and has grown into the world’s largest celebration of entrepreneurship.
This week long festival of live events taking place throughout the country celebrates and cultivates our national entrepreneurship ecosystem and helps people at every stage of their entrepreneurial journey get the help they need.
GEW aims to inspire people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. These activities, from large-scale competitions and events to intimate networking gatherings, connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors—introducing them to new possibilities and exciting opportunities.
Entrepreneurship in the UK
The UK is an established world-leader in finance, creative industries and business services, and a growing force in newer industries such as tech, low carbon and life sciences. It offers some tempting UK tax incentives to support innovation and startup businesses, such as Entrepreneur’s Relief, R&D tax credits, Enterprise Investments Schemes, and more. The UK’s regulatory and policy environment is also particularly hospitable towards entrepreneurs.
