Research from Moneyfacts seems to imply that savers aiming to get the best returns should abandon the stock market in favour of a simple cash bond. Investors need to remember though that selling stocks and shares may lead to a capital gains tax liability. However, on the flip side, Barclays Equity Gilt Survey shows that the long term returns are consistently better in the stock market.
