Business as usual for routine tax planning, says HMRC

In a previous report, it was said that HMRC was aiming to raise £5bn extra a year by 2019-20 by tackling tax avoidance, tax evasion, tax planning and compliance issues. The report highlighted concerns relating to a crack down on legitimate tax planning. HMRC has however now responded to this report by saying that it is “business as usual” and “there is no change to the normal, everyday use of tax reliefs as intended by parliament.”
