Budget date confirmed

Philip Hammond, Chancellor of the Exchequer, has confirmed that the next Budget will be held on Wednesday 22 November.

The Budget will set out the government’s plans for the economy based on the latest forecasts from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).

Addressing the Lords Economics Affairs Committee this week, the Chancellor said that the UK economy had “inevitably been overshadowed by the uncertainty of the Brexit negotiation process”, saying it was important to “generate some clarity about the future for business and consumers.”
