Beavis Morgan and partner firms raised valuable funds for charity in 2014 through a series of fundraising initiatives taking place throughout the year.
In July, the Beavis Morgan accounting, business and tax advisory team crossed the finish line of Trailwalker 2014 in an impressive 26 hours. The grueling journey, which covered 100 kms across the South Downs, saw the team accomplish their ambition of raising over £8,000 for the Ghurkha Welfare Trust and Oxfam UK.
In September, Beavis Morgan partner firm, Jelf, specialists in employee benefits, insurance and financial planning, announced the winners of the inaugural “Local Business Charity Awards,”recognising local Gloucestershire businesses and individuals for the support they have shown to local charities through the giving of time, services or through fundraising.Allwinners’ money was donated to the charities thatplaced the initial nominations.
In October, the Bristol office of Jelf raised over £10,000 in memory of much loved friend and team member Emma Wygladala from Fishponds, who worked as a business support manager at the Jelf Group in Chipping Sodbury. Emma passed away in March following a battle with cancer. Funds were raised through a programme of activities and the proceeds were presented to Bristol charity St Peter’s Hospice, which cared for Emma in her final weeks.
In keeping with the firm’s collective love of golf, as demonstrated by our sponsorship of Tyrrell Hatton who had a dream rookie yearrising from 995thin the Official World Golf Rankings to 132nd place, Beavis Morgan held a charity golf day in aid of Hospices of Hope (HOH). The day proved a great success, raising almost £10,000 for the charity which cares for terminally ill children and adults in Romania and surrounding countries.
Carole Ford, Fund Raiser for HOH, says: “On behalf of Hospices of Hope I would like to thank Beavis Morgan for your generous contribution. The money raised is a great encouragement to us all here and the much needed funding will be used to provide valuable support through increased provision and access to hospice care services and training.”
In December, the Beavis Morgan team, which includes BM Advisory and BM Structured Finance, held a Christmas Charity Raffle raisingover £2,000for three nominated charities, Royal Brompton&Harefield Hospital, Scope and Brainwave.
Commenting on the fundraising effort, Nicola Gale from Scope says: “Thank you to Beavis Morgan for your support. You, like us, are passionate about making the world a better place for disabled people and their families. We really can’t continue the work we do without the money raised from fundraising events like yours. Your money is gold dust to us and so we make sure we spend it very carefully and use it to support projects that are most in need of it at the time.”
Prizes for the raffle, open to Beavis Morgan group staff and family, consisted of holiday vouchers, hotel accommodation, restaurant and shopping vouchers all provided by our many kind sponsors.
Wrapping up a successful year for charitable fundraising, Beavis Morgan Senior Partner and champion of the firm’s Charity and Not for Profit sector, Peter Drown, concludes: “It has been a year packed full of charitable fundraising initiatives on both a group-wide and an individual level. I am extremely proud of the enthusiasm shown by our team members across the Beavis Morgan group and our partner firms in support of so many worthy causes. Congratulations to all involved, and thank you to the many supporters who have given so generously inhelping to make each effort really count.”
