Tyrrell Hatton, the 24 year old golfer who exploded onto the professional scene in 2010 when he qualified for the Open Championship as an amateur, has rounded off 2015 in style. Tyrrell, who originates from High Wycombe but now resides in Marlow, finished in a creditable 13th place with a score of nine under par in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, the final event of the 2015 season on the European Tour, earning him over 115,000 euros. The golfer, who is sponsored by London-based accounting and business advisory firm Beavis Morgan, showed a return to the form that saw him finish sixth in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship at the start of 2015.
Tyrrell's rankings have improved steadily since his professional career began. The young golfer's early foray into professional sport ended without any ranking in 2010, but by 2012 he was placed 327th in the European Tour rankings. This position rose to 214th in the following season. During the 2014 round of tournaments in the European Tour, he rose to 36th overall. Thanks to his eighth place in the Volvo Open in China in April this year, his fourth place in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in June and his season-best third place in the Omega European Masters in July, Tyrrell has ended 2015 ranked 35th. Indeed, the 2015 season saw him improve his average position from 55.93 in 2014 to 50.37. This progress was reflected in his official prize money which went up from 878,185 euros last year to 990,626 in 2015. He ends the 2015 season ranked 100 in the world.
2016 should be another exciting year for Tyrrell. If he continues to progress and improve, there is the prospect of gaining representative honours at the Olympics in Brazil and the Ryder Cup in the USA. All at such a young age! Despite Tyrrell's progress, he says there is still plenty of work to do. “I will not rest on my laurels,” he said. “My support team and I are focused on improving on previous performances in order to push on.”
Congratulations to Tyrrell Hatton from all of us at Beavis Morgan.
